Walgreens Trip 03/05

Shopping the Walgreens ad can sometimes be very discouraging and at times I have told myself I will never shop Walgreens again.  Then a sale comes out with unbeatable prices and lots of register rewards and I am back, hunting down deals at Walgreens from Nampa to Caldwell.  One of the biggest frustrations of couponing, especially at places like Walgreens, are the greedy shelf clearing couponers who get up at the crack of dawn and go swipe every last great deal off the shelf every Sunday morning.  Shelf clearing is not something to be proud of and is frowned upon by most couponers.  If you take the last two items I would not consider you to be a shelf clearer, but if you walk into the store with 50 of one coupon and take all 50 of that item then you would be considered a full fledged shelf clearing couponer.

So today I went for the unbeatable Schick Hydro 5 Power Select Razors for a final price of $1.99 and out of all 5 Walgreens I hit they were SOLD OUT!!!  How can this be???  It is only Monday and the ad just came out yesterday!!!  Well, this same item ran in last weeks ad and due to the dreaded shelf c*****s and the people who order stock for the stores there are none.  So I got a tip from the lady at the cosmetics counter that more will be in tomorrow!!!  YAY!!!

So, what was I able to score today???

Transaction 1:

Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste $3
Walgreens Saline Nasal Spray $5
Bottle Pop for Brody $1.79 (used as a filler item)
Used $0.75/1 Any colgate toothpaste 4.0oz or larger 02/26 SS

Subtotal: $9.04
Used: $8 RR from last week
Total OOP: $1.63
Received a $5 RR from the saline spray and a $3 RR from the Colgate

Transaction 2:

Colgate Total Advance Toothpaste $3
Beeachnut Baby Cookies for Zoey $1.69 on clearance
Used $0.75/1 Any colgate toothpaste 4.0oz or larger

Total OOP: $4.22
Received a $3 RR from the Colgate

Total OOP:$5.85
Still have: $11 in Register Rewards!!!!

The reason I did not use the $3 RR from Trans 1 to help pay for Trans 2 is because, you cannot use a Colgate RR to pay for a Colgate item or the RR will not print on the second transaction.  But, you can use a Crest RR to pay for a Colgate item and still have the colgate RR print.  If you do use the Colgate RR to pay for the 2nd colgate item it will bring your total OOP down but you lose that 2nd RR.  You also can't buy 2 of the same RR items in the same transaction and have 2 of the same RR print out.  You must split your transactions as I did with mine.  If you have more than 1 transaction I suggest checking out at the cosmetic counter so you don't hold up the line.
