CHEAP Coca-Cola at Walgreens through 3/17!!

This week Walgreens has an amazing Catalina running.  Receive $10 in Register Rewards at checkout when you buy $20 or more, or $5 when you buy $15 of participating products.  Products include Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, Hershey's, and Planters Nuts.

This week Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper are on sale for 3/$10.  Purchase 6 for $20 and receive a $10 Register Reward.  This is like paying only $10 or $1.66 each!!!

What is a Register Reward??

A Register Reward is a manufacturer coupon that prints out of the Catalina machine at the register after you have purchased certain qualifying items.  They are like in store cash and can be redeemed on future Walgreen's purchases.

Can you buy 12 Coca-Cola 12 packs and get $20 in Register Rewards??  NO and here is why:

You will only get 1 Register Reward per promotion per transaction.  If your Walgreens will allow you to purchase 6 Coca-Cola products in one transaction and then purchase another 6 in a second transaction, then yes you can buy 12 and get 2 $10 catalinas.  Can you buy $20 worth of Coca-Cola and $20 worth of Hershey's and get $20 in Register Rewards?  NO, because the Hersheys and the Coca-Cola are from the same promotion.  But lets say there is also a Register Reward promotion on Colgate, you can buy both the Colgate and the Coca-Cola in the same transaction and get both the register rewards for the Coca-Cola and the Colgate.  This is because the Register Rewards are from two different manufacturers and two different Register Rewards Promotions.

Can you pay for a second transaction of 6 Coca-Cola products with the $10 in Register Rewards you recieved from your first transaction???

You can but you will not receive the Register Reward on the second transaction.  In order to successfully roll Register Rewards you should not use a Colgate RR to pay for Colgate items that will also produce a RR because you will not get the second RR.  You can however use a Colgate RR to pay for the Coca-Cola and still get the Coca-Cola RR.

Rolling Register Rewards is a good way to decrease your out of pocket expense.  Most Walgreens will only allow 3-4 transactions at a time and they usually like you to complete these transactions at the cosmetic counter.

When combining manufacturer coupons and Register Rewards, you must make sure that you have the same amount of coupons as products.  If you have 6 Advils and 6 Advil coupons and would like to use a RR, you must use a filler item because the RR is also a manufacturer coupon.  Filler items are typically small and very inexpensive items such as candy or small clearance items.  Also, when using a RR, your sub-total must be less than the amount of the RR.  Register Rewards can not be used to pay for tax.  Store coupons are not counted against the number of products, only manufacturer coupons.

Here is an example of successful rolling of Register Rewards:

Transaction #1:

Buy 3 Butterfinger Eggs $1 (filler item)
Buy 1 Schick Hydro Power Select $9.99
Use $4/1 Schick Hydro Power Select
Use $2 Register Reward from Colgate from last week
Pay:$4.99 (before tax)
Receive $4 Register Reward from Schick

Transaction #2:

Buy 1 Russel Stover Egg $0.59 (filler item)
Buy 7 4ct Advil PM from travel section $1.49 each
Use 7 $1/1 Advil PM 4 ct or larger
Use $4 Register Reward from Schick from transaction 1
Pay: $0.02 (before tax)
